In the Frozen Series, painting is revealed as a dense entity, articulated through layers of different materials through which the spectator can see and touch its various limits. Scraps of cardboard, leftover paint or fragments of newspaper make up these bundled figures. These are easily manipulated objects that obey the scale of the human body and need the sense of touch in order to understand the way in which they were cut up and constructed. The Frozen Series inhabit the territory between the familiar and the strange; magnifying the simplicity of the material displacement with which they were constructed and recognising how the passage of time has fleetingly been stopped in these objects.
